The Stormartillerivagn M / 43 (Sav M / 43 for short) is a Swedish self-propelled gun from the Second World War and the post-war period. The vehicle was produced in the years 1944-1947, and a total of 36 copies were made. Its weight was about 12.4 tons, with a length of about 5 meters and a width of about 2.1 meters. The drive was provided by a single Scania-Vabis engine with 142 or 160 HP. Initially, the armament of the vehicle consisted of a single 75mm Kan m / 02 gun. The Stormartillerivagn M / 43 was developed for the needs of the Swedish Armed Forces, and work on this vehicle began in 1941. In order to shorten the research and development work, it was decided that the new vehicle will be based on the chassis of the tank Stridsvagn M / 41. It was assumed that the new self-propelled gun would be able to perform tasks together with its own tanks and infantry, also in winter conditions, which was understandable taking into account the climatic conditions of Sweden. It was also assumed that Stormartillerivagn M / 43 will be able to fire both indirect and direct fire to the target. Finally, in 1944, a quite successful self-propelled gun was introduced, which was used in various roles until 1973. It is worth noting that in the course of operation, the 75 mm gun was replaced by the 105 mm L / 21 m / 44 gun.
