The Wolf WR1 is a Formula 1 car, built for the Walter Wolf Racing team, which debuted on the track in the Argentine Grand Prix in 1977 and competed in F1 races in the 1977-1978 seasons. Its chief designer was Harvey Postlethwaite. The vehicle was powered by a single 3-liter Ford Cosworth DFV 8-cylinder engine. The WR1 was developed as the first car in the history of the Walter Wolf Racine team. The car had good aerodynamic properties, an aluminum monocoque body and a relatively low weight of around 585 kilograms. He also used the so-called the ground effect, based on the creation of negative pressure by e.g. specially designed shape of the chassis. Moreover, the vehicle won the race in which it made its debut! In total, the Wolf WR1 car was put to start in 27 races, of which it won 3, and the drivers sitting in it stood on the podium 10 times.
